Pierson's Keswick Movement
August 2nd, 2010
Click on this link to see The Keswick Movement by A.T. Pierson. This is a wonderful handbook that gives a summary of the Keswick movement by one that joined it. A.T. Pierson not only gives a history of the Movement, starting at the very beginning when it was just some simple meetings, until the time it became a formal system of meetings. He then goes into the believes and goals of the movement. This is all done in a very simple and easy to read format. Do you want to know what it was all about? Then this is the book to read!
This book brings the Keswick shelf to the point of being 56% done as far as total pages.
Johnson's Highest Life
August 2nd, 2010The Highest Life by E.H. Johnson. This book looked good in the review process. Johnson quoted scripture verses and lived in a time when the Keswick movement was at its zenith. He also was a respected Baptist. But, once it got through the setup process and entered the final editing phase, it was not the book it appeared to have been, nor was Johnson! We went ahead and included it, partly because not all our readers are historic Baptists. This book serves as an example of the movement that led away from all the higher spiritual life endeavors and that formed as foundations to the Christianity that exists today that has no part in Christ. It is just "Ianity," with the emphasis on the "I" that begins the word! The book does give an unsympathetic view to the whole history of those who seek to live a holy life and to reach new heights of spiritual growth. It is provided because it does give a broad history, and a viewpoint into how the Keswick and Moody spiritual revivals were misinterpreted. To offset some of the statements made that are misconceptions, read just about any book on this shelf! If nothing else, Johnson's book can stir up some good discussions!
Clow's The Cross in Christian Experience ready!
July 23rd, 2010The Cross in Christian Experience is now processed and ready to go! It is quite a book! It covers the application and implications of the Atonement in a whole series of sermons, broken up into three main categories. The author is well read in English literature, and so loves to cite examples from published story books and other then famous story writers, but he does not stray from the purpose of bringing home to a practical application the need we have to fully understand the offence of the Cross to others, but our need of everything it implies.
Excellent for simple devotional reading, or for sermon outlines for preachers! This book will be found of great value to those that take the time to carefully read and consider its message.
We do not plan to publish this book online, since we have exceeded the allowed number of pages on our paid host website server. If the Lord provided at a future date the necessary funds and a good host server, we will be glad to add this book to our free reader. But for now, we all have to wait till we get it Cross licensed. Those of you who have Libronix ought to tell the owner he needs to let us publish our books in Logos Bible Software too! Our first three shelves are still languishing and in need of the many updates we have done, but cannot provide till he backs off of his belligerent behavior! If you want it in any other format, let us know, but even better, apply some pressure to the owners of the many software. They all are afraid of competition, but in the same token, by closing their doors to those that can provide quality and fully compatible books for their programs, they are losing some real business opportunities to say nothing of the royalties they could get from us!
What Is Faith
July 27th, 2009Link: http://www.pleasantplaces.biz/titles/machen_faith.php
This is a book everyone should read. We were hesitant about this book, since it is one we had not actually read, but when it came time to edit it, it is a keeper! Wow! Machen explains how important it is to stand by the old historic faith. In the course of the book he covers the application of such a strong faith to society. This is a book no modernist wants available.
This book completes shelf 5 in Cross compatible format. The shelf has been processed and licensed and is now available!
Evan's Books of the Pentateuch
June 24th, 2009Link: http://www.pleasantplaces.biz/titles/evans_pentateuch.php
This book was a surprise, and a new book for me, the editor, to read. It is very valuable and quite disturbing to find it is not widely available today. The book carefully outlines the five books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), and offers comments and other Scripture references. It is thus a great help for the Bible student, preacher, teacher, and anyone who wants to learn God's Word. Well written, and to the point!
With this book finished, it means we are only one book short of finishing the offer of Shelf 5. Hopefully the last book will edit quickly!
