Daniel 11

The Importance of Detail

Details are what make a job particularly well done and pleasing. When working at a private radio repair shop, we earned good reputation marks by simply polishing the radio case after we repaired the inside. The extra effort only took a few seconds and some inexpensive polish, but the customers quit asking if we had repaired their radio or not!

God wants us to learn to pay attention to details. It is the details of a person’s life that make or break him. It is also the little things in our lives that qualify us for service or disqualify us in an instant.

Daniel is presented with a whole series of details in this chapter. It is almost overwhelming for a casual reading. This nation is going to fight that nation and this and that will happen. Without carefully charting out the message, one is quickly lost.

The reason for all this detail is to enable one to know whether or not the Scripture is being or has been fulfilled. Without the minute details outlined, many events would qualify as being already fulfilled. It is important for the believer to be able to pick out the actual facts so that they can give an answer when asked about the outcome of world affairs.

A few years back there was some concern about whether or not we had entered Armageddon or World War Three! Those who study the Bible could say that neither was the case. The details just did not fit what we read in God’s Word.
