Monday, Daniel 7:1-5 & Romans 13:1-3

Political powers like to think they gained their authority because of their own intelligence. Scripture declares a very different picture. As the great powers strive for control, God is the one who enables or disables them. As strangers in this world, we submit to them, knowing God put them there, and He will remove them at the appropriate time. Doing what is right enables us to be confident that we will not be caught and punished. What do we need to stop doing so we can enjoy a lack of fear of officials? Is this a right thing before God? What other things should we change or continue doing?

Tuesday, Daniel 7:6-10 & Romans 13:4-5

God rules over the affairs and kingdoms of man. Nothing is done without His permission. Because rulers do not follow God, they will be punished and the powers of their office destroyed. Until then, we pay their fees, and show them respect, appreciating the fact that evil is held at bay because of their presence. What are the things we can be thankful for having the government that we have? How can we express our appreciation for it?

Wednesday, Daniel 7:11-15 & Romans 13:6-8

Sometimes the government will put us through some pain and suffering, but we must realize that their powers are limited and will be ending. God has told us to submit and pay due respect to the political realm, making sure we do not build up debts to anyone except to seek their benefit. This attitude will inspire us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come soon, and His will to be done here on earth as in heaven. Who can we seek to benefit today? Who is in our realm of responsibility? Are we shielding them from abuses of power, so they can know the love of God?
