What Really Matters by Clinton A. Macomber

World governments are very unsettled. They always want more than they have, and their rulers constantly change. Politics is a topsy-turvy business. If you try to keep up too much, you tend to get sea sick!
Satan figured he could offer our Lord all the kingdoms of this world for a little worship (Matthew 4:8-10). Yet Daniel was able to see that Satan’s control is quite shaky. There is a struggle among the evil ones over who gets control of different areas. These evil and vile followers of sin can never agree, because they have no standard, except to thwart God’s standards.
Politics Are Often Humanistic
Daniel 7:3-4 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. 4The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
This would get anyone’s attention. Here a magnificent lion comes out of the humongous sea, but it had the large majestic wings of an eagle. As Daniel watched, the wings were removed and it was carried and made to stand up like a person. To make matters more confusing, a man’s heart was put into it.
This describes the animalistic behavior of politicians in general today. Even public school educators teach that we all started out as animals. The influential “experts” of our day claim we need to understand wild animals in order to gain insight into human motives and actions. They want us to believe that we all started out as animals and progressed to the place where we became people.
This type of thinking creates excuses for people to act like animals. After all, our instincts must be primal. They figure that one cannot understand himself until he understands his animalistic background.
With this kind of education, politicians do not consider that we are made, not like an animal, but in the image and likeness of God. We thus do not find our solutions to problems by the study of primal instincts, but in the ways and teaching of God.
