Daniel 7
The Importance of Honoring God
It is easy to take our eyes off of the Kingdom of God and focus on the present political system. Politics are aggravating when one is aware of what is happening. None of the political structures or wicked rulers will last, however, no matter how permanent or powerful they may seem to us.
This portion of Scripture offers hope to the people of God. God is allowing a “progression” of world ideologies to be given a trial. After they get their chance to prove to be a failure, then He will come and set up His Kingdom.
Each system is outlined. We are living in the final days of this plan. It will not be long before the King of Kings comes and takes control. Then, finally, will be peace, prosperity, and justice. No kingdom in the past has offered anything that is lasting. His Kingdom will be eternal.
Their are several contrasts between man’s rule and God’s rule. Man does things in a shortsighted manner, seeing mainly self-gratification. God does things in a way that brings Him glory without compromise. The results of man’s systems of government are oppression and injustice. The rule of the Lord is one of peace and prosperity.
Politics Involve Spiritual Struggles
Daniel 7:1-2 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. 2Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
