Daniel 5
The Importance of Repentance
There are times when habits must be changed. When this happens, too often, we make a feeble effort or two, and return right back to our habit. This time, however, we practice the bad habit more often and more pronounced!
This chapter is a bone chilling warning to learn from our own mistakes and the mistake of others (including our relatives). Belshazzar knew better than to act the way he chose to act. His actions got a very old man up out of bed in the middle of the night. Belshazzar demanded immediate attention. He was selfish and did not care about other people.
Sin Continues to Increase
Daniel 5:1-4 Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. 2Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. 3Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. 4They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
