The Importance of Worship

Worship is a very important thing. Living a godly life that provides time for worship, requires some careful scheduling, and a prioritization of the things that need to be done. If we do not set aside time to specifically review our day before God, we will aimlessly wander through our day, accomplishing very little, if anything at all.

This chapter of Daniel gives us a clear illustration of how important worship is to a saint of God. It also contrasts for us the difference between man-invented worship and holy and true worship of God. The saint of God cannot afford to waste precious moments in a life of godlessness, making it important to examine this chapter closely.

Worship Notices the “Little” Things

Daniel 3:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

The world is taken up in creating a spectacular show of their gods. Instead of worshipping God for who He is, they try to create a grand display of their god, so that awe is solicited from all who behold. When people do not accept such displays as being wonderful, they are looked on with suspicion and even hatred.

This same attitude is carried over into churches. They are so busy creating an idol and icon of “god,” that they forget that there is nothing that they can do to enhance the Almighty. He is the greatest of all. There is nothing
