Monday, Daniel 1:1 & Acts 22:1-4
God often uses educated people to challenge and punish His own people because of their sin, and to make them vibrant and vital spiritually. There were some good Jewish people in Jerusalem, but God shook them up into becoming great people by having them taken captive and then removed to Babylon in humiliating and trying circumstances. Paul served as an instrument of God in persecuting Christians by hauling them around bound. We must be careful about our education. A bad education can cause us to be seriously misled as was Paul. It is time to consider our education and how it has led to us behaving as we do. What areas must be purified so that we can go on and live a changed life?
Tuesday, Daniel 1:2 & Acts 22:5-8
How we treat the things of God is how we treat God. When the great temple artifacts were “delivered” to the heathen temple in Babylon, it showed that the king had no respect of God, or the things of God. When Paul was so willing to transport Christian prisoners for trial, it showed he felt the need to prosecute the holy things of heaven. While Paul was an instrument of God, he was also a persecutor of our Savior. What is our attitude toward God’s Word, His people, devotions, and holy worship? If we do not spend time in these things, and show due respect, we have no respect for God. God has to call us into question before His holy throne. What areas must change so that we evidence a changed heart? How can we ensure these changes are lasting and real?
Wednesday, Daniel 1:3 & Acts 22:9-11
God can use circumstances to force us to go where He directs us to go. Both Daniel and Paul had to be led to their new place of ministry. Are we willing to follow God? Or does God have to shatter us to get us to submit to Him? Are we busy doing what is right? or are we like Daniel’s relatives, fighting God by rebelling against His Word? Or are we like Paul, running around to serve God, but instead, harming those that do what is right?
Thursday, Daniel 1:4 & Acts 22:12-14
Being chosen is exciting and frightening. It is exhilarating and embarrassing. Daniel was chosen among those that would live and receive special training and privilege in Babylon. He already was God’s child, but now
