Daniel was known for his commitment to God in prayer. By making it illegal to pray to anyone but the King, they hoped to trap Daniel and have him destroyed by the lions. When the King became aware of the snare, he sought a way to undo the law, but was unable to do so.
Daniel lived that night unharmed by the lions. The king rejoiced in the morning and ordered the others to take Daniel’s place.
