Introduction

Our everyday vernacular is replete with expressions such as “So what!”; “Who cares?”; “What difference does it make?”; “Do I have to?”; “Who said?”; “Big deal!”; “Leave me alone!” and many other such phrases.

We are often faced with finding out if the effort something will take is worth it or not. Sometimes we can work very hard, all for nothing. This is discouraging. We loose heart. We wish we had never been so enthusiastic.

As Christians we hear the same thing. There will be some who will stand before God and list all the reasons they should be in heaven. He will tell them to depart, because He never knew them. Even a Christian can get too busy doing the things that are a waste of his time, even though he thinks they are really important to do for the Lord.

How can we know what really matters to God? How can we know we are on the right track in our spiritual development?

The stories in the Book of Daniel are always fun to read and consider. But why have all the miraculous stories tucked away in a book that is about the future of this world? God never does anything by accident. There is always a reason for everything. This book serves as a guideline to those who want to find out about the things that concern God. As we change our lifestyle and stand for godly things, we too can experience a life like Daniel. God will be able to use us in mighty ways. He will be able to do amazing things just as He already did for Daniel and his friends.

The book of Daniel covers a whole lifetime of learning. Many of the things mentioned will take a lifetime to make habitual. The spiritual life is always a life of growth. Every minute for the Christian is a opportunity to enjoy the new person that God is changing us to be.

Old habits are a thing of the past to a Christian. All things are now new.
