whom the Holy Spirit selects; the private witnessing is intended to bring about such a condition of heart as shall open the way for a climax of decision under the influence of the public witnessing; the theme of the testimony is to be Christ himself in all that he is and does for the salvation of lost men; the witnessing is to be undertaken only at the leading and under the power and enabling of the Holy Spirit; and the spirit of prayer and praise is to saturate everything that is done. This is the exact meaning of the Great Commission, some of the important details being given added significance in the historical events we have been studying.

The Program Perpetuated

We are now much interested to know what provision the Lord has made to keep this Program in successful operation throughout the Church Age.

Our information on this subject we find, quite naturally, in the very heart of that great body of truth which the Lord gave us through Paul, the great Apostle to the Church.

Christ’s Gifts to His Church

In Ephesians 4:11-16 Paul is setting forth the gifts which the ascended Christ gave his Church, and what he gave them for. Among these gifts are not only apostles and prophets, but also evangelists and pastors and teachers.
