Look, again, at our day.

At the very time when men, in their insufferable pride, were lauding so-called human progress to the skies, that very nation in which the Reformation and the recovery from the Dark Ages began; that very nation which, because of that fact, was the most privileged of God in all modern times; that very nation which might have become the great world-missionary, and might have given the Gospel to all the inhabited earth;—that nation, so far departed from the rediscovered Word of God, and so fully turned to the satanic doctrine of evolution, that she rose up in unsurpassed egotism and involved the most civilized and Christianized nations on earth in the most awful and excuseless war of all ages; and the very lands that might have been ringing with the good tidings of great joy through her heavenly ministry were soaked instead with the tears of the sorrowing and the blood of slain millions through her hellish malevolence.
